The standing remains of buildings and structures provide a valuable resource that is rich in evidence reflecting and expressing the evolvingknowledge, beliefs and traditions of past generations. The conservation of ruined buildings and structures requires and benefits from an inter-disciplinary approach that brings together technical and scientific knowledge with practical craft skills.

This lecture will cover issues of conservation management, planning, measured and condition surveys, specifications, methods of repair and consolidations, preventative maintenance and presentation.
