Annual Conference: Volunteering in the Historic Built Environment

22 November 2016
London

The Annual Conference this year will carry on from the university-funded research we are undertaking into volunteering and the skills gap in the Heritage Sector (and in the Historic Built Environment in particular). This event will showcase current leading research into this area, open up further debate and discussion into some of the less obvious issues, and look at ways to move forward. Volunteers are a valuable resource, but while we try to make the most of their time and skills, are we taking too much advantage, and should we consider whether over using volunteer skill simply exacerbates the skills gap by hiding other solutions with what might be considered as free labour?
