Visit to Innerpeffray Library

25 August 2016
Innerpeffray Library, Perth & Kinross

A Summer visit to Scotland’s oldest free, public lending library. Innerpeffray, perched on the bank of the river Earn in Perth and Kinross is a historic subscription library and was the first lending library in Scotland. Its collection includes many significant and interesting books, housed in a wonderful historic building in a lovely rural setting. The visit will explore collections care issues in libraries, in particular the balance between access and preservation.
Lunch will be provided afterwards and is included in the ticket price. Innerpeffray is not easily accessible by public transport, so the Group will organise car shares from Edinburgh, Glasgow and other cities if appropriate, and will make an ‘on the day’ charge for this of around £10 per head.
