Painted Hall Conservation Project

25 May 2016
Greenwich

The Painted Hall is a major conservation project for ORNC and the event will involve a Panel discussion with a range of experienced conservation specialiasts.

The conservation project will focus on the Lower Hall, whose magnificent ceiling depicts the founders of the Royal Hospital for Seamen – King William III and Queen Mary II – and the Vestibule, with its soaring cupola, which lists the donors who contributed to the establishment of the Royal Hospital.

The project celebrates every element of the Painted Hall and its history, promoting skills, dialogue, and independent discovery in the exploration of the universal stories and timeless themes of Sir James Thornhill’s paintings. For more information see more….
