The Future of Traditional Farm Buildings

Traditional farm buildings provide the English countryside with a distinct sense of place, setting and local character. On some estimates, half have been lost since 1919, and they continue to be lost to dereliction in large numbers. Long-term economic, technological and demographic changes have left most farm buildings without a use, and national, European, and international policy and agricultural support have (perhaps inevitably) failed to provide for their maintenance.
