SPAB – Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Group Visit to Yoxall
In Person | 13 September, 2024 | 10.30am – 4pm
Join the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Group for a walk around Yoxall, an Anglo-Saxon settlement in Staffordshire, followed by a tour of the Grade II* listed Pear Tree Farm.
We will meet at Pear Tree Farm for coffee and biscuits with the owners, Mike and Pam Kingham. This Grade II* Listed building is of the late Stuart/Georgian period and contains apotropaic marks and graffiti intended to protect the house from illness, disease and fire.
After coffee, we’ll walk around the village to see a variety of buildings of special architectural or historic interest, including a rare Roman Catholic church, and several interesting industrial buildings.
We will then have lunch at The Crown pub, before returning to Pear Tree Farm for a tour with the owners.
