AHSS – Question Time: Scotland’s Historic Buildings and the Climate Emergency
22 November 2021 - 18:30 - 20:00
Please join us, in person at the SpACE pop-up (ECA Fire Station, Lauriston Place, Edinburgh), or on-line, to hear our expert panel discuss the problems and challenges of historic buildings in relation to the climate emergency, and to consider any new aspects or commitments which may have arisen as a result of COP26.
The AHSS has supported the historic environment of Scotland for more than 60 years and while it seems clear that life changes must be made by everyone if carbon reduction targets are to be met, we are determined that changes to the character of listed buildings and conservation areas should be as limited as possible in the interests of ‘sense of place’ and the role it plays in the welfare of Scottish people.
The issues will be debated by our expert panel:
Sarah Boyack MSP
Christina Gaiger, President of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland
Dr Moses Jenkins, Senior Technical Officer, Historic Environment Scotland
Euan Leitch, Chief Executive, SURF, Scotland’s Regeneration Forum
Christina Sinclair, Director, Edinburgh World Heritage
The evening will be chaired by Peter Drummond, conservation architect, expert witness and former chair of the AHSS.
If you have questions which you would like put to the panel please email them to the AHSS National Office (nationaloffice@ahss.org.uk), marked Question Time Debate.
