Co-founder Aishwarya Tipnis will be joining us to share some of the innovative approaches that have helped to empower a new generation to better understand, connect with and appreciate the urban heritage of India.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you&#8217;re a heritage professional, planner, or educator, this session will provide valuable insights into building inclusive, low-cost, community-led heritage initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/us06web.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/7FV445SySRCJ-hlsadyKmw#\/registration\">Register Here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>About the speaker:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aishwarya Tipnis, Aishwarya Tipnis Architects<\/p>\n<p>Aishwarya\u00a0Tipnis is an award-winning Indian architect, educator and heritage conservationist based in New Delhi, India.\u00a0Born and raised in New Delhi, she completed her bachelor\u2019s degree at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and went on to earn a master\u2019s degree in European urban Conservation from the University of Dundee, Scotland. She\u00a0holds a PhD in Urban Design and works at the intersection of architecture, urbanism and heritage conservation.\u00a0In 2016, her work was recognised by the UNESCO Award for Heritage Conservation in the\u00a0Asia-Pacific Region and in 2018 she was conferred\u00a0Chevalier Des Arts\u00a0et Des Lettre (Knight of the Arts and Letters), by\u00a0the Government of France in 2018 for her\u00a0outstanding commitment to preservation of French\u00a0Heritage in India. In 2019, she co-founded Jugaadopolis, a\u00a0social innovation enterprise to\u00a0work with youth in making the rich heritage of India relevant to local communities in the contemporary context through a process of co-creation.<\/p>\n<p>She has been widely\u00a0recognized as a global cultural leader and is committed to preserving India\u2019s rich cultural\u00a0heritage through her work in architectural conservation.\u00a0 In 2022, she spearheaded The Restoration Toolbox, a community led project that works at empowering citizens to restore their own heritage, which was recognised as one of the most innovative projects in international cultural relations by EUNIC in 2023. Some of her notable projects\u00a0include Retrofit Design for Woodstock School Mussoorie, Restoration of The Doon School Dehradun. She was the urban conservation consultant on the UNESCO team for the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway World Heritage Site and has been a champion for the community-led revitalisation of Chandernagore, an erstwhile French town in West Bengal India.\u00a0She is a published author\u00a0and currently visiting faculty at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and serves as the member of the Academic Council at Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture and Environmental Studies, Mumbai as well as the Board of Review of CEPT University.
