Objectives<\/h3>\n

JPS 2022 \u2013 Investigation of moisture and its effects on traditional buildings \u2013 was published in September 2022 as a collaboration between RICS, Historic England and PCA.<\/p>\n

It is a landmark document that has also been approved and adopted by Cadw, Historic Environment Scotland, Historic Communities Division Northern Ireland, SPAB and IHBC.<\/p>\n

The document aims to finally put an end to the decades of inappropriate and unnecessary remedial damp-proofing, mostly by chemical injection.<\/p>\n

Undertaking an inspection of any building will, almost always, include an assessment of moisture and it is of absolute importance that the surveyor does this properly.<\/p>\n

Content<\/h3>\n

This CPD session will take you through the 7 sections of JPS 2022 and will provide you with a complete understanding of how the document is to be used in practice.<\/p>\n

If you follow the methodology fully and correctly you will provide a much better level advice to your client which isn\u2019t simply \u201cget a timber and damp inspection\u201d.<\/p>\n

This training is suitable for everyone, regardless of background or experience. \u00a0 No prior knowledge or qualifications is required. \u00a0It is taught in English, so you must have a good use of the English language.<\/p>\n

The training is intended to be of most value to this who carry out any type of inspection\/survey on a traditionally constructed building.<\/p>\n

Duncan is one of the UK\u2019s most experienced Chartered Building Surveyors regarding historic and Listed Buildings, having been doing this work for over 35 years. \u00a0 He runs\u00a0Listed Building Surveys<\/a>\u00a0and he was Chair of the RICS Building Conservation Steering Group 2017 \u2013 2023. \u00a0He is the lead author of the new RICS Professional Standard \u2013 Conservation of Heritage Buildings and Assets, which will be published in 2024. \u00a0Duncan teaches building surveying, architectural history, building pathology and building conservation to undergraduate, postgraduate and mature students and also to the general public and the trades.<\/p>\n
