Objectives
JPS 2022 – Investigation of moisture and its effects on traditional buildings – was published in September 2022 as a collaboration between RICS, Historic England and PCA.
It is a landmark document that has also been approved and adopted by Cadw, Historic Environment Scotland, Historic Communities Division Northern Ireland, SPAB and IHBC.
The document aims to finally put an end to the decades of inappropriate and unnecessary remedial damp-proofing, mostly by chemical injection.
Undertaking an inspection of any building will, almost always, include an assessment of moisture and it is of absolute importance that the surveyor does this properly.
Content
This CPD session will take you through the 7 sections of JPS 2022 and will provide you with a complete understanding of how the document is to be used in practice.
If you follow the methodology fully and correctly you will provide a much better level advice to your client which isn’t simply “get a timber and damp inspection”.
